dispensed all the faithful
in the Diocese of Richmond from the
obligation to attend Sunday Mass until further notice
. However, if you choose to attend a public Mass during the weekday or weekend, it is
that you adhere to the various guidelines and requirements.
Please take the time to watch our video on how to safely return to Mass and participate in the liturgy.

Spelling Bee Winners!
Congratulations to Stephanie Velez and Miley Murphy who came in first and second place respectively in the school-wide spelling bee held during Catholic Schools Week last week!

Box Tops for Education
We are still taking Box Tops!
Box Tops for Education has a new app for attaining Box Top points. You can also go to BTFE.COM. They are still accepting clipped Box Tops and will continue to do so until products no longer have them on the packages. Labels may be left in the church or school office. These labels provide the school with free educational supplies.

National Marriage Week Novena
The observances of
National Marriage Week (Feb. 7-14) and World Marriage Day (Sunday, Feb. 14)
are an opportunity to focus on building a culture of life and love that begins with supporting and promoting marriage and the family. Our theme for 2021 is "To Have, To Hold, To Honor."

Annual Diocesan Appeal
As we prepare to celebrate “Presidents’ Day” holiday, it is important to remember the deep faith of our founding fathers. On October 3, 1789, George Washington gave a Presidential Proclamation to acknowledge God and offer “thanksgiving” to him. The proclamation stated, in part, “...it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his
will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor” — and “to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God…”
And, we are all familiar with the greatness of Abraham Lincoln, whose purpose was to free the slaves and heal a nation. In his second inaugural address on March 4, 1865, he stated, "With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to
finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation's wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan…”.
These are examples of their faith in and reverence for God. This week, as we celebrate them and celebrate LOVE through St. Valentine’s Day, let’s remember the work of charity, kindness and love that is accomplished through the Annual Diocesan Appeal, as well. Please make your pledge today.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the depth of our faith that we forget what it was like to first wrestle with the big questions – Who am I? What am I searching for? What’s our shared story? Who is Jesus? Why do we need a Church? Is there a God? We all need to get back to the basics to make sure the foundation is strong.
We are excited to introduce
, a new 7 part Augustine Institute Original Series with the goal of lighting that first fire in those who don’t yet know the faith or reigniting the fire in those who need a primer on the foundational questions.
This program will be for 18-25 year olds -including college students- which will begin on Monday, February 1st, at 7 p.m.
The ALPHA program is a 9-week series including a retreat weekend that involves brief videos, discussion, and time for fellowship and games. We will be offering the ALPHA program to high school teens.

Empty Bowls 2021
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger.
Artisans at the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History and George Washington High School art teachers have created handcrafted ceramic bowls for
the event which will be held at
God’s Storehouse on Memorial Drive.
Each ticket will have a specific time allotted to pick up your bowl and participate in a chance auction. No soup will be served. Vouchers from area restaurants will be available for ticket holders.
Guests can purchase tickets for $20/person ($25/person after February 21) at God’s Storehouse, Karen’s Hallmark in Danville Mall, and online at Eventbrite.
Please continue to pray for the spiritual and physical health of these brothers and sisters in Christ.

We will be decorating the church with poinsettias for Christmas.
If you would like to purchase a poinsettia in honor or in memory of someone, please submit a check payable to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the amount of $16.00.
Place the check along with your printed intention in an envelope and bring it by the parish office.
The deadline for ordering is Thursday, December 17th.
